Challenge #21: Check Something Off My Bucket List

IMG_5725.JPGThis challenge wasn’t so much a challenge as it was a pure delight! I can’t believe that in the eight years I lived in England I never once made it up to London for the Trooping the Colour. As a result, it’s been on my bucket list for quite some time. Not just to see the event, but to be there while Queen Elizabeth still reigns.

My mum came along with me on this trip and we had the most wonderful time. Our hotel was across the road from Buckingham Palace and we walked all over London!

I wasn’t able to get us tickets unfortunately, however, we got a great spot along the Mall and we were able to watch the entire procession and the flypast. It was such a fun trip and I can’t wait for another one!

Challenge #28: 30 Days of Morning Quiet Times

I know from the beginning that this was going to be a challenging challenge for me. I am not a morning person in the slightest so having my quiet time in the morning has always been a challenge.

This challenge has really been rewarding for me though because it has helped me to be more intentional about my time with God. Having my quiet time in the morning is now something I look forward to. It may just be a short time but it’s been such a valuable time too!

Challenge #17: Take a Painting Class at ARTini’s

IMG_5395

I am not a naturally artistic person, far from it actually. I’ve never been able to draw well or paint with any talent. But I have always loved the idea of painting. ARTini’s in Athens was the perfect solution. Plus I was able to paint the cutest little barn owl.

As you can tell from the picture on the bottom right, I got pretty serious but I also had a lot of fun. Now, I’d really like try another painting!

Challenge #18: Volunteer

FullSizeRender

I spent a lot of time considering where and how I wanted to volunteer my free time.

Not long ago I started going to Athens Church and I completely love it. One of the things that has always impressed me is how welcoming everyone at the church is. A large part of that is because of the Guest Services team.

So, I decided to join the guest services team. Now I get to be one of the smiling faces that welcomes everyone to church. It is so rewarding to be part of this team and it makes me look forward to Sundays even more!

Challenge #10: Learn To Make Cocktails

IMG_5341

I think it’s fair to say that learning to make cocktails was one of the challenges I was most looking forward to. Mainly because I had the expert tutelage of my Uncle William! He spent a lot of time and effort preparing to teach me and to pass on his wisdom.

I’ve never been much of a cocktail drinker, except for Pimm’s of course 😉 So, this opportunity to expand my horizons was exciting for me. I, with the guidance of my uncle, made a vodka based drink call Down Under Fizz and a rum based drink called Florida Skies. Both came out great and tasted so good!

I was also honored by being able to wear my late grandmother’s apron. She would have loved to have been right there in the mix testing out her granddaughter’s cocktail concoctions.

Big thanks to my family for letting me turn them into my cocktail guinea pigs!

Challenge #20: Go Indoor Rock Climbing

IMG_5344

I cannot emphasize enough how much fun rock climbing was. I was a tiny bit intimidated by it at first simply because I had never belayed before. However, I had a couple of the best ladies with me and we all learned together and had the greatest time.

We went to Active Climbing Gym on Barber in Athens. They got us suited up and taught us the basics and then we were free to climb. We had the whole room to ourselves so we cheered each other on like crazy and took a million silly photos and videos.

Big shout out goes to Whitney for overcoming her fear of heights and putting her trust in us. Here’s to many more adventures!
